~ 28 Weeks Later ~

I've seen this earlier this week. At first, I didn't really wanna see this as the ad didn't seem too interesting. Especially with the looks of it. kinda looks boring, ain't it? But trust me, its all good. 28 Weeks Later is a ferociously entertaining thriller with sympathetic characters, stunning set pieces and pulsating excitement.

The ante on the story of Great Britain's population being almost completely wiped out by a virus that induces in human beings instant rage and the almost unstoppable impulse to kill. It should prove explosively infectious at the boxoffice.Six months after being declared safe from infection, Britain is being repopulated with evacuees and those lucky enough to have been away at the time of the outbreak. Joined by pockets of survivors, they are housed in high-rises on the Isle of Dogs in the east end of London. The place is a heavily guarded fortress with constant surveillance by the U.S. military, whose snipers spy on the inhabitants as much as potential invaders. The remainder of London and the rest of the country are empty of people, but security is maintained at the highest level because of the instant and deadly fury unleashed by the virus. Inevitably, however, the security is breached, and when it does the inmates are at risk as much from their military masters as from the infection.

Robert Carlyle stars as Don, a man whose children, Tammy (Imogen Poots) and Andy (Mackintosh Muggleton), were on holiday when the outbreak occurred. He has a guilty secret, as the film's opening sequence shows him and wife Alice (Catherine McCormack) with some other survivors in a remote country house attacked by hordes of the infected. Don manages to escape but leaves his wife to her fate. When Alice surprisingly shows up, medical officer Scarlet (Rose Byrne) discovers that she has a gene that protects her from the virus, and son Andy has the gene, too. When unflinching Gen. Stone (Idris Elba) escalates security to Code Red, Scarlet and Special Forces Sgt. Doyle (Jeremy Renner) risk their lives in order to get Andy and Tammy to safety.

For once, there is a happy absence of misogyny in a horror movie, though the body count is high as a result of Fresnadillo's expert technique and imaginative eye for carnage. The frenetic pace allows him to make his points vividly without dwelling on the horror so that the film speeds along to its shattering climax and cautionary coda.

Note: “28 Weeks Later” is not for the faint of heart or the weak of stomach. It is brutal and almost exhaustingly terrifying, as any respectable zombie movie should be. It is also bracingly smart, both in its ideas and in its techniques. -New York Times-

B.O. issues

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

i was left mindless, looking around for topics on what i should write about. there were only a few of us here in the lab. and then there's this girl (and a boy) walked in & something came into my mind and i knew i had to write about it. remind me to thank them later ya. ahakss! i may sound heartless, cruel, and rude but trust me, it's NOT my intention to make any bitchy statements. it is just fer the purpose of general knowledge (and humour - since i'm so mean) & a reminder.

you know how you were jz sitting down enjoying the scent of lavender and then came along these 2 living creatures with a strong scent of garlic. and as if there are no other seats, these 2 creatures just had to pick a seat which is next to u. ok, imagine u'v got the scent of lavender - that surrounds the whole room, and garlic - which is stuck next to u, which one will overtake? unfortunately in this situation, the garlic seems to win. omigod, their B.O. is so stink, that it is almost an insult to the garlic. sometimes i wonder they've forgot to shower/put on deodorant or is it due to the type of food they ate. anyhow, i was browsing the web fer this issue, and i found this on New York Times Sunday:

it even talked about the ways to prevent it.and i noticed that there's a picture of a skunk too.aw...so sweet...y skunk???those creatures are so cute, it might insulted them. oh my, if only i could find something to make a similarity of what i'm smelling rite now...

oh ya, i've also found this on

Step Up

Few of my friends were insisting that "step up" was such a awful movie, or how it was such a waste of money. Now here are my two cents.

It was, in fact, a good movie. the dancing was FABULOUS, and even though the acting could have improved, this movie was nothing short of amazing. The tracks were catchy and hot, and there was just enough romance in it to make it cute, not gross or sleazy. It had literally EVERYTHING you could ask for in a movie: romance, drama, and comedy. I think that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan did a great job. Their dancing, along with everyone else's, was phenomenal. After watching the flick, I was actually inspired to be a dancer (even though I never will be). I guess that the main reason people are turning down this movie is because of the acting part. Sure, the acting could have been better, but this movie was focusing on DANCING. Obviously you have to be a good actor to be in a movie, but the dancing was the main focus of this film. and I personally think the dancing was really superb. I couldn't ask for it to be better.

This movie is definitely worth seeing, whether you're into hip-hop or not.

actually i'm no fan to malay horror movie but JPB was recommended by few of my friends. went to catch the 11:05 flick at TGV. graphic wise, it was ok, but the SFX abit too loud. so yeah basically the part that made most of us jumped was the loud 'thump'...however, i noticed that the actor stumble few words when he was disappointed to know his fiancee committed suicide. overall,i'd give it 3 out of 5. nice but can be improve...

p/s : there were a few parts whr it was so scary & sickening that i jz wanna leave...

ex-skewlmate

this morning i bumped into my ex-schoolmate at the train station. a little surprised that she still recognized me after all these years. i know i had that "omigod it's them again" -look on my face, but i can't help it. especially when i bumped into HER..she was known for her 'fire-mouth' back in the school days...anyhow, i was trying (really hard) to make it look as if I'm so happy to bumped into her, i mean i was kinda a little tad a bit happy though. but there were a few moments of silence as I'm outta words. then she begin to ask me what do i do fer now, the dialogue basically goes like this;

her: skrg u buat aper?
me: still study
her: kat @!**$* college tuh ek?
me: a'ha
her: amik course aper?
me: **** communication
her: ooo...susah x?
me: sometimes it's difficult depending on the subject & lecture
her: ooo...tgk jap

i was holding my textbook and she just took it without me finishing my words...then she started asking me about the subject, and i explained...bla bla bla she returned the text...and she asked the most stupidest Q, "still study?naper study lame sgt?" i tot the whole time we were talking about me studying, like how many times u want me to repeat that??? then she said,"kiter dah keje dah.." and i was saying 'oh.no wonder y u asked me like that' to myself...
did she jz burped on my face??? without any hesitation i asked her,"oh really??? for which shop?" because i noticed that she was wearing a uniform. i don't have anything against ppl werking at shop outlets or anything like that. but for heaven sake, that was no way to brag...you meanie mean mean person u!!!
i may be nice & all, but u burp, i burp...
